Carmela’s
Kitchen
Having dinner
at the Welfare Café one evening, I mused over a fly carefully
investigating the area of white linen table cloth next to the salt and
pepper shakers. As I watched, I thought, "What a wonderfully odd
still-life composition this would make, amusing some, offending
others." The idea for the ‘Fly Series’ was born. Since then, I
have had great fun watching for ‘new compositions’ to present
themselves.
Carmela’s
Kitchen was the result from a trip made to San Miguel de Allende. Every
day, we enjoyed visiting with Carmela, the cook at the wonderful house we
stayed in. She would probably kill me if she knew I had named this
watercolor after her practically fly free kitchen!
